Training

nCASE Director of Training, Dr. Nancy Priselac, serves as the contact for all nCASE teacher training efforts. Dr. Priselac has developed customized one-to-two-day orientations and three-to-five-day training programs. Four areas of concentration have been identified for training:

• MWM/STEM learning module and STEM content knowledge growth
• Inquiry-and design-based teaching using STEM learning modules
• 21st-century technology to support the inquiry-and design-based classroom
• Mathematics necessary to support inquiry and design content and processes

Training Programs

Training programs prepare teachers to implement inductive teaching through inquiry and design methodologies using a variety of tools, including such STEM learning modules as Materials World Modules (MWM), developed at Northwestern University. The five training foci are:

• STEM module and content knowledge growth
• Inuiry-and design-based teaching skills using STEM learning modules
• Use of communication skills to support the inquiry-and design-based classroom
• Integration of research components
• Integration of digital technology, including mathematical gaming to support inquiry and design content and processes

nCASE has trained STEM teachers and scientists and engineers in states across the country:
